Flow
What makes people really happy to be alive? Which inner experiences make life worth living? For more than two decades, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi studied those conditions in which people report feelings of concentration and deep enjoyment. Their studies showed that the "flowing" of experience is truly satisfying, a state of concentration that is so focused that it amounts to being fully immersed in an activity and leading to the achievement of a perfect state of happiness. Flow has become a classic about happiness and an important contribution to contemporary psychology. Issues such as the challenge of lifelong learning; Family relationships; Art, sport and sex as "flow"; the pain of loneliness; optimal use of leisure time; and how we understand our life.
Have you ever been so focused on a task or activity that you forget the time, or even eat or drink? It seems that you are "in the area" and experiencing deep euphoria or great joy? I think most of us have seen this before. In this state, people are “so engaged in the activity, it seems that other things are not important; the experience itself is so interesting that people will even pay a huge price for it, just for it,” the flow state is called. This is a key theme of Mihai Csikszentmihalyi's classic and popular positive psychology title "Flow: Best Experience Psychology". The flow state we obtain through this mastery is closest to true happiness; then, no matter what the situation is, we will fully participate and fully control ourselves. In , Csikszentmihalyi discussed the difference between happiness and indulgence. Between these two aspects, enjoyment can bring us closer to a state of fluidity. River Condition In , Csikszentmihalyi explained that there are two key aspects: problems and skills. For an action to become a flow, it must be a task slightly higher than our current capabilities. In this , Csikszentmihalyi also mentioned an interesting concept of self-discipline personality. In contrast, people with this personality are more likely to achieve flow. Cikszentmihalyi also found that various activities such as sports, games or art can ensure a smooth speech. Since we cannot always engage in sports, games or art, it is very important to change other activities we do every day to stimulate flow. In , Csikszentmihalyi discusses these activities: physical and/or sensory activities in , symbolic skills exercises in, work activities in, and work activities in . Social activities. His research shows that people become more fluent. Compared to free time during work, the same people want more free time. There are several useful explanations, but the most prominent one in this book is that people can ignore their own experience at work and instead cite the cultural and/or social norms that “work is not necessarily good”; this is free for us The "so-called" limitation of time. In any case, I learned from these s that any activity, even normal activity, can be transformed into a flow-inducing activity by setting goals before starting. This goal will help us focus and focus on activities and learn to enjoy a real experience. The goal does not have to be large or complex, but it does not have to be the goal of the game, otherwise the focus will shift to the game. Take part in activities with adventure and curiosity to improve your skills. The last two discuss how to use flow to cope with stress or tragedy, and how to combine the experience of different flow activities and self-improvement to develop the meaning and purpose of life. Csikszentmihalyi recommends staying active through meditation; before investing to achieve your goals, it's worth stopping to really ask yourself whether the goal is really worth achieving, and most importantly, what you like.
