Elio is a 17-year-old Italian Jew who lives in the countryside of northern Italy with his parents. Elio's father was a professor of archaeology. He invited Oliver, a 24-year-old Jewish graduate student, to spend the summer with his family and help his scientists. Elio is an independent bibliophile and talented musician who initially thought he had nothing in common with Oliver, who seemed confident and carefree. Elio spent most of his summer vacation reading, playing the piano, and spending time with his childhood friends Chiara and Marcia. In a volleyball match, Oliver touched Elio's back and expressed interest, but Elio ignored him. Elio later became jealous when seeing Oliver following Chiara. Elio became more and more attracted to Oliver, he even sneaked into Oliver's room to smell his clothes. Eventually he confessed his feelings to Oliver, and Oliver told him religiously that they could not discuss these things. Elio dated Marcia and they had oral sex. In response, Oliver invited Ellio to meet. He is at midnight.Then Oliver said to Elio: "Call me your name, and I will call you mine." The next morning, Elio mourned that there was too little time left for him and Oliver. After receiving no news from him for three days, Marcia confronted Elio. As the final moments of Oliver's stay approached, he and Ellio were overwhelmed by uncertainty and melancholy. Parents who knew the connection privately but did not talk about it publicly suggested that he and Oliver visit Bergamo together before Oliver returns to university. They spent three romantic days together. Mother told her to pick him up at the train station and take him home. Marcia sympathizes with Elio and says that she wants to continue to be friends. Seeing his deep sadness, Elio's father told him that he knew his relationship with Oliver and admitted that he had a similar relationship when he was young. During Hanukkah, Oliver called Elio's family and told them that he was engaged.The annoying Elio is Oliver's name, and Oliver answers by his own name; he also mentioned that he remembers everything. Elio sat by the fireplace and stared at the fire, tearfully recalling how his parents and colleagues prepared Christmas dinner.
